TODAY’S RUN!
Distance: 10 Miles
Time: 1hr44
What a great run. One week until the Robin Hood Half Marathon and I ran past the starting line today. There were at least 20 blokes hanging around, all runners, reading the route plan or getting in final training in. It was a really nice atmosphere and a lot of knowing knods thrown about. Had it been a bunch of women it would have been lots of chatting, whooping and all grouping together in lady-lines to tunnel eachother around the site shouting “oh my god you’re going to do SO well” then calling them all rude words as soon as the tunnel disperses. Because women are friendly like that. Blokes? Man-nod. Bosh. That’s what you get. A nod.
That’s a lie, actually one bloke stopped me. An old bloke in his 60’s who mouthed a sentence at me. Funny how people talk to you when you have headphones in and expect you to hear it. He asked me if i was running, i said yes, we did a unison man nod and went about our day. If i see him again he may get an “orrite”. I’m just nice like that.
Anyway, back to today’s run. It was great, constant slow-but-getting there pace. I had watched all of Eddie Izzards Video Diary entries before setting out so i was so damn inspired I could have ran with a flag.
One week until the big day. Do i feel ready? Yes. Totally. After watching a comedian, not the most athletic of career choices, run 1000 MILES for charity. My 3 half marathons feel quite small in comparison. I’m not devaluing the challenge. But I don’t feel like my efforts will rock the world as much as I did when i decided to do this. What a guy Eddie Izzard is. I have tickets for him in October and as soon as he comes on stage you can surely bet i’m going to bang out a man nod like never before. ARE YOU READY EDDIE? Man nod…HOOOOO!
(I’m so tired this blog post is a bit bonkers i’m afraid)
