So I did it! The Robin Hood Half Marathon. I finished! It was on Sunday but i’ve been so busy with work. Yes. Work. That i’ve not had chance to get this updated.
So i’m sat at my desk at 7:30am in my continued commitment to fine sports journalism.
So how was it?
Bloody awful. Horrible. Painful. Amazing. Wonderful. Horrendous. Best feeling ever. Worst Feeling Ever. Better than the best feeling ever.
It’s the easiest way to describe it. it was horrible, but that’s why it was wondeful. Finishing a gruelling 13 mile route with a smile on your face is hard to beat.
What have i leared though?
- I was dehydrated. I didn’t drink enough water the day before.
- Drinking too much water on the morning of the race to make up for this is bad.
- Careful not to throw your discarded lucazade bottle in the face of a child, making them cry. Shouting “sorry” as you run past just won’t cover it.
- Watching/Reading/Listening to every available coverage of Eddie Izzards run around Britain will not help with training. Training helps with training.
- Energy Gels are meant to be eaten. Not Rubbed in.
I’ll write a few more updates/thoughts over the next few days. But if work takes over, then keep an eye out for me on Sunday BBC ONE from 09.30 to 13.30 when i will be running this !
I’m determined to get on TV so if you’re watching you’ll get a man nod.
